This article describes how to set up Outlook 2007 to send and receive email using your EarthLink account.

How to Set Up Outlook 2007 to Send and Receive Email

You will need the server settings for your e-mail address. Go to EarthLink Server Settings  to get these settings.


Open Outlook, click Tools, then choose Account Settings.


Click the E-mail tab, and click New.


Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types, and click Next.


Select Internet E-mail, and click Next.


Enter the following information for E-mail Accounts:

  • Your Name: Enter the name want your e-mail to display when someone receives your message.
  • E-mail Address: Type your complete e-mail address, for example
  • Account Type: POP3
  • Incoming mail server: Type in your POP server
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
  • User Name: Type your complete e-mail address. For exampleL
  • Password: Type in your password for the e-mail address entered above, and check the Remember password box.





Click the Outgoing Server tab, select the box labeled My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, then choose Use same settings as my incoming mail server.


Click the Advanced tab.

  • Under Incoming Server (POP3), the port number should be 110.
  • Under Outgoing Server (SMTP), the port number should be 587.

Note: Port 587 will work on any ISP network. If you have trouble sending e-mail, if all else fails, you can switch to port 25. However port 25 will only work if you are connected to the EarthLink network.


Click OK.


Click Next.


Click Finish.
