Use this article to learn how to remove an e-mail account from Mozilla Thunderbird.

Very Important: When you remove an e-mail account from Mozilla Thunderbid, it will permanently delete any mailboxes, messages, notes, drafts, sent items and to do items under that email account.  Mozilla Thunderbird does not have an Export function that allows you to safely export your mail for safe keeping.  If you want to back up your mail you will need to manually move the mail files following the procedures outlined at http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/faq#export.

Remove an e-mail account from Mozilla Thunderbird

1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird
2. Click on Tools on the main menu
3. Click on Account Settings
4. On the left hand side, click on the account (email address) you want to remove
5. Click on the Account Actions button at the bottom left of the window and then click on the Remove Account option.

6. Click OK when asked “Are you sure you want to remove the account (account name)?"
7. Click OK to close the Account window.
