This article helps you get your email program set up to send email through EarthLink.
If you use TotalAccess to check email:
EarthLink's TotalAccess software can update your email settings for you. In addition, using TotalAccess also ensures better connections and includes features such as Pop-Up Blocker, Parental Controls, Privacy Tools and more. Click here for more information on using and installing TotalAccess.
- Windows Users: TotalAccess software includes EarthLink MailBox, our proprietary email
program, which is easy to use and fully integrated with all TotalAccess features, including
spamBlocker. If you choose to use an email program other than EarthLink MailBox,
TotalAccess will also automatically set up Outlook, Outlook Express, and Netscape Mail. - Mac OS X Users: Installing EarthLink's TotalAccess software will automatically configure Mac
Mail for OS X. - Mac Classic Users: Installing TotalAccess on Mac Classic will configure Entourage, Outlook
Express, and Netscape 6 and 7.
If you use an email program other than TotalAccess:
There are 2 ways to change your email settings depending on which email program you use:

- Windows users: Automatically change settings using the EarthLink Email Update Wizard. You can use the Update Wizard to change settings in the programs listed below. Click here for instructions on using the Update Wizard.

NOTE: If this is the first time you're using your Outlook or Outlook Express program, please open and close it once before using the Email Update Wizard.

NOTE: EarthLink uses a method of outgoing email called Authenticated SMTP, which helps fight unsolicited email (spam). Outlook Express versions before 5.0.6 do not support authenticated SMTP. We recommend that you update to the latest version of Outlook Express. Netscape version 6.1 does not support Authenticated SMTP. We recommend that you update to the latest version of Netscape.
