How to Telnet Initial PPPoE Configuration
  1. Click Start and choose Run.






  2. Type in cmd or command, and click OK.






  3. Type telnet 192.168.1.1 and press Enter.





  4. Type the default password 1234.





    Note:If the user has changed his or her password, type the new password. If the user is unsure of his or her password, reset the modem. To reset, hold the reset button (pin hole) on the back of the modem with a paper clip or ball point pen until all the lights shut off, then release the button. The default password is now 1234.



  5. Type 4 for Internet Access Setup, and press Enter.






  6. Press Enter until the curser is blinking under Encapsulation.


  7. Verify that the Encapsulation is set to PPPoE, and press Enter. If it is not, use the space bar to toggle between settings.






  8. Verify that the VPI number is 0 and VCI number is 35. If not, type in the correct numbers.


  9. Continue pressing Enter until the curser is next to My Login.


  10. Type the user's full E-mail address, and press Enter.


  11. Remove ******** in the My Password field by using the back space and delete button. Type in the user's E-mail address password, and press enter.







  12. Press Enter until you see Saving to ROM. Please wait. This will occur when you get to the "Press Enter to Confirm or ESC to Cancel;" section selecting Enter a final time to save the settings and return to the main menu.


  13. On the main screen. type 99 and press Enter to exit. You will get response Connection to host lost. Close the window and verify that the Internet light on the modem is now on - indicating connection has successfully been made. If unsuccessful, reset the modem and follow the instructions above to try again.
