Innoband (Broadxent) BritePort 8012-G1 Modem - Preparing the Modem for Installation
  • Article ID: 33634
  • Last modified date: October 27, 2009 7:10
Summary

Innoband (Broadxent) BritePort DSL 8012-G1 Modem uses the most advanced “splitterless” Asymmetric DSL(ADSL) technology. Use this article to prepare your equipment for setup.

Preparing your Equipment

  1. Make sure your computer is turned off.

  2. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable to the modem marked Ethernet, and the other end into the NIC or Ethernet card on your computer.

  3. Plug one end of the telephone cable to the modem marked DSL line and the other end into a phone jack.

Important: Make sure all phone jacks being used by a phone device have the proper filters installed. The phone cord from the port marked DSL Line on the modem to the telephone wall jack must NOT have a filter on it. If a phone will be used in the Phone port on the device, it must be filtered.

  4. Turn on the computer.

  5. Connect the end of the power supply cord to the back of the modem and plug the other end in to an electrical outlet.

  6. The Power, * DSL and LAN light on the front of the modem should turn green. The Internet Light will remain off until the device is configured for PPPoE authentication.

    * Some 900 MHz phones and halogen lamps may interfere with a DSL signal. If you are using either of these devices, try unplugging them. Computer monitors and stereo speakers may interfere with a DSL signal. If your modem is on top of a monitor or speaker, try moving it. Some phones may cause interference even after installing filters. If your modem does not show a connection to EarthLink, try unplugging all the phones in your home, unplug your modem power cord and plug it in again, checking for a steady green light.
