This article details the physical setup for the Linksys WRTP54G Wireless router with two phone ports.
Prerequisites/Requirements:
- If you are subscribed to EarthLink's Home Networking service, you may need to set your DSL modem to bridge mode before continuing with the steps below. If your modem is not bridged already, please see KB Article 39788 for help with this step.
Procedure
- Shut down and turn off your computer.
- Turn off or unplug your Cable or DSL modem.
- Find the Ethernet cable that connects your computer to your Cable or DSL modem. An Ethernet cable looks like a wide phone cable. Disconnect this cable from your modem, leaving it connected to your computer.

- Double-check your 2 Ethernet connections:
- from your modem to the WRTP54G's Internet port
- from the WRTP54G's Ethernet port to your computer's Ethernet port.
- Plug your telephone line into the WRTP54G's Phone 1 port.
- Plug in and turn on your Cable or DSL modem.
- Plug the power supply into the nearest surge protector and connect it to the Power port of the WRTP54G.
- Connect the antenna to your WRTP54G.
