In Mac OS X 10.5, the Mail application has been redesigned for easier use and set up. This article illustrates how to automatically setup your EarthLink e-mail account in Mac OS X 10.5.

Important: In order for this automatic process to work, you must have an active operational Internet connection during the setup. If there is no connectivity, follow the instructions for the manual setup process.

Launch Mail from the Applications folder or by clicking on the Mail icon in the Dock.
The setup wizard will appear.

Type your EarthLink Email Address and Password. Select the check box Automatically set up account, then click the Create button.

- Mail will self-configure the EarthLink mail server settings. The outgoing server will be set to smtpauth.earthlink.net. Mail can be used immediately without any need for modification.
